Romain Taupenot continues to oversee the inexorable climb of this fantastic domaine, now indisputably in the premier League, whilst retaining its value proposition. He crafts wines of structure, clear vineyard expression, and complexity from an exciting array of vineyards, and the wines are high class examples of their appellations.

"Tasted blind at the annual "Burgfest" tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru Combe d'Orveaux from Taupenot-Merme has a fruit-driven, quite intense bouquet with small dark cherries, cassis and blueberry notes that are well defined, but primal and it needs a few more months to fully integrate with the oak. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannin, sour cherry and dried herbs littered around the finish that is structured and stoic. Give this another couple of years to really find its groove, but there's a lot of potential here." 92 points Neal Martin, Wine Advocate
