Dugat-Py Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru 'Corbeaux'

One of the top five domaines in Burgundy, Dugat-Py also has one of the most impressive and extensive cellars in the region, originally built in 11th century for the Abbey of Saint Benigné in Dijon. Loïc Dugat, now 13th generation, is continuing the family tradition of making some of the greatest and most sought-after wines in Burgundy, from the family’s eleven hectares of perfectly sited vineyards, planted with vines averaging nearly seventy years old. Everything is done by hand, while a horse is used to plough a few of the vineyards. The domaine has been fully organic since 2003, with Loïc now working biodynamically across a number of sites. The wines are vinified with as little intervention as possible and are bottled unfined and unfiltered. In 2018 the use of new oak has been reduced which really allows the richness and depth of the fruit to shine through. Our tasting here in November was an undisputed highlight, the range from Bourgogne Rouge to Grands Crus uniquely thrilling.
From two parcels, next door to Mazi Chambertin. Interplay of red and black fruits, five spice, soy aromas and a note of toast. Palate shows powerful ripe but crunchy red fruits, earthy minerality and stony grip, and refreshing sapidity alongside a cigar leaf note on the long, broad finish. Tom, Wine Guru
Les Corbeaux neighbours Mazis-Chambertin to the north and, at its best, can aspire to Grand Cru quality. This comes from two small parcels with an average age of 60 years and is another brilliant wine from this superstar domaine. Everything is expertly judged here, from the 60% whole bunches to the 75% new wood, both of which add layers of flavour and complexity to this succulent, balanced, effortlessly harmonious wine. 97/100, Tim Atkin MW
Medium deep purple with blacker centre. Ripe fruit with some roasted coffee notes, emanating from vineyard, vintage or barrel? Then the fruit starts to develop. It fills the mouth beautifully without pushing too far, two thirds whole bunch really shows at the back. I love the elegance and detail of the finish. Aromas of blackberries, cherries, espresso roast, rich soil, peonies and smoky cassis introduce the 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Corbeaux, a medium to full-bodied, deep and succulent wine that's built around powdery tannin and lively acids. Especially elegant and precise this year, this is an intensely flavored, sapid Corbeaux that was vinified with 70% whole cluster and matured in 66% new oak—a third less than only two years ago. 92-94/100, William Kelley, Wine Advocate
The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Corbeaux 1er Cru comes from two parcels. It has a very attractive bouquet of red currant and wild strawberry fruit, quite mineral-driven and very precise. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and well-judged acidity. Very harmonious in style, delivering gentle grip on the black pepper and graphite-tinged finish. If you’d like more than the number shown, or it’s shown as ‘Out of Stock’ / ‘Email to order’, just call us or drop us an email to confirm your order and delivery schedule, as our winemakers send us fresh stocks frequently.
Standard Delivery takes 2-3 working days and costs £7.50 for orders under £75. Orders over £75 are subject to FREE Standard Delivery. Standard and Express Delivery is available for most mainland UK postcodes as listed in our T&Cs. Express Delivery costs £12.50. Express delivery orders over £75 are £5.
For Express Delivery (next working day) orders need to be placed before 1pm. Orders placed after 1pm will be received after two business days. Orders placed for next day delivery after 1pm on a Friday and before 1pm on a Monday will be delivered on Tuesday. Orders placed on a Bank Holiday will be similarly processed the day after the Bank Holiday and delivered the following day.
Same Day Delivery costs £20. This option is available to most London postcodes as listed in our T&Cs, if ordered by 1pm Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays). If ordered after 1pm, you will receive your order on the next working day. We may be able to organise a speedy courier for you, so please call or email us if you have special requests. What a great way to get that wine to your office or home for the evening!
Our Club Offers may take longer to ship, as we collect all of our members’ orders together before ordering them from the winemaker. The expected delivery timelines for each product should be specified on the product page. Otherwise, please contact us for the information.
