Luke and Angus' Summer Selection (Half Bottles)

A top selection of what the Wine Gurus are drinking!

Villa Sparina Gavi di Gavi DOCG, 2019: Full and rich flavour, the complete grape-ripening gives a wine which is soft on the palate with a fine aromatic flavor at the end.

Villa Sparina Barbera del Monferrato Superiore Rivalta, 2018: A round and juicy red with plum, peach and orange-peel character. Medium body. Shows complexity and freshness.

Antonelli Montefalco Grechetto, 2018: Opens with elegance to the nose: fresh, fruity and floral with notes of citrus, peach, almond and hawthorn blossom. Taste has good structure and is pleasantly fresh.

Chateau Briatte Sauternes, 2014: Luscious apricot notes mingle with a touch of honey, but all with a refreshing acidity to carry the wine.

Château Trébiac Rouge, 2016: A complex range of spice, juicy plums and cherry fruit with a touch of cassis. The palate is smooth, soft and really well rounded with good weight and a delicious, long finish.

Maestro Sierra Fino Sherry, NV: Flor-influenced, with a solid bitter side and some savoury notes, but low acidity and moderate salinity. Traces of ripe fruits give it a silky, creamy character. Thyme. Almonds.

Billecart-Salmon Brut Reserve, NV: delicate texture under the charm of white flesh fruit flavours (apples, crunchy pears). With a beautiful fluidity of a delicious lightness uniting gourmand flavours of springtime.

Meltwater Sauvignon Blanc, 2018: A crisp and crunchy wine with none of the stereotypical characters that are associated with this wine style. Gooseberry, tropical fruit and nice acidity, with a crisp clean finish. Very enjoyable!

Beaujolais Villages, Colonge, 2018: The nose is bursting with crunchy red fruit and sweet spice. The palate emphasizes the ripe red fruit flavours backed up by good acidity and silky tannins that give way to a finish of strawberry jam notes.
