Jane Eyre Gevrey Chambertin
"...The palate has good depth and drive and the structure is quite fine, tannins are definitively expressed and the weight is nicely delivered"
- Burgundy, France
Having first met Jane Eyre two summer's ago out in Burgundy and been amazed her wines didn't have a presence in the UK, it's been a real pleasure seeing how her reputation has grown and a loyal (dare I say "cult"?) -following has developed with attendant critical acclaim. Jane (previously Melbourne-based), first worked the vintage in Burgundy in 1998, and subsequently gained experience with some of the world's top winemakers, including Ernst Loosen in the Mosel and Freddie Mugnier in Chambolle Musigny. She is now one of the leading lights of the growing breed of micro-negociants, sharing a winery with no less than Dominique Lafon. The style of her wines across the range is characterised by bright but soft, perfumed fruit, gently herbal spice notes and sophisticated, supple tannins. Charm personified.
Tom Harrow, Honest Grapes Wine Director
"This has an earthy and more cryptic mood on the nose with a brambly, gently herbal edge, a little cassis, some leafy nuances and a minerally thread with a definitive oak moment, plus plenty of cherry fruit too. The palate has good depth and drive and the structure is quite fine, tannins are definitively expressed and the weight is nicely delivered. Drink now and for 6 years."
92/100, James Suckling
