La Rioja Alta Viña Arana Gran Reserva
7/100 & Platinum award, Decanter
- Rioja, Spain
Quality, elegance, innovation, evolution... These are the pillars on which the five founding families erected the winery in 1890 and built a way of living, feeling and producing wines of the highest quality that continue to evolve subtly, perfectly adapting to new tastes. This is how their permanent pursuit of excellence started; a pursuit that continues into the 21st century with identical enthusiasm. They draw the best from their winemaking tradition and wisdom —our own cooperage, manual racking, long ageing periods, etc.— and combine it with the most modern winemaking technology. Today, their wines are an international exemplar of the great wines of Rioja and our brands are present in the best restaurants across all continents.
"Classic nose with savoury character over a sweet spices background with elegant cigar box notes. Quite mouth watering with a full body and chewy mid-palate." 97/100 & Platinum award, Decanter
"The release of this Viña Arana Gran Reserva is a historic moment for us and… we have chosen a very dear brand for our winery. For this new wine we used a traditional blending with Gran Reserva ‘vocation’: the Tempranillo provides structure and elegance and Graciano gives greater aromatic intensity and acidity… I think it’s the perfect complement for ageing!! It’s really a fresh and elegant wine with structure and high aromatic intensity. Easy to pair and great to enjoy. It’s a new step in our recognition for a successful category of wines that has made Rioja great and famous” Julio Saenz, Winemaker
