- Bordeaux, France
"80% Cabernet Franc, 20% Merlot. Cocoa powder, coffee grains, liquorice, black olive, rose petals, tarragon In Jonathan’s notes, Dundee cake, cherries (almost glacé), herbaceous nose. Palate has lovely sweetness, impressive length and line, refined, supple cocoa dusted fruits and those cashmere tannins that Jonathan is so proud of." Tom Harrow, Wine Guru
“This magnificently situated parcel of old-vine Cabernet Franc continues to impress. It is intensely perfumed in smoky black fruits, displaying a dark, tight structure that leads through to finely textured tannins. The wine's acidity and succulent ripeness come through strongly. This is for long-term aging.” 97-99 pts, Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast
“Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2019 Le Dome is a little closed and broody to begin, unfurling to reveal a profound core of preserved plums, fruitcake, chocolate-covered cherries and mocha with nuances of star anise, Sichuan pepper and cardamom. The medium to full-bodied palate is beautifully perfumed with loads of floral notes emerging among the black fruits, framed by remarkably soft, velvety tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and fragrant. Gorgeous wine!" 96-98+ pts, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate
"Jonathan’s iconic cuvée, featuring 80% Cabernet Franc picked on October 1st, with 20% Merlot picked on October 10th, with 14% alcohol in this vintage, starts off dark and rather reserved at first, with a beautifully perfumed melange of scents on the nose, rich with violets, pencil shavings and blackcurrant fruits. The palate shows a seamless harmony and elegance, showing the same perfumed black fruits as the nose, with a fine-boned grip to it, laced with cigar box, tobacco, charcoal and currant, supported by a wealth of tightly knit tannins with a velvety and smoky prominence. As with the other Maltus wines this vintage seems to be all about focus, tension, sinew and structure rather than breadth, and it all works brilliantly together. This is a very fine Le Dôme in the making." 96-98 pts, Chris Kissack
