Lindes de Remelluri Rioja
A new wave Rioja but it has plenty of vanilla pod and soft, sweet and spicy red and black fruits to please purists.
- Rioja, Spain
The key thing here is the quality of the fruit - sappy, herbal and fresh on the palate - none of that balsamic vinaigrette character that you too often find on supermarket shelves. The Lindes de Remelluri "Vinedos de San Vicente" is a new wave Rioja but it has plenty of vanilla pod and soft, sweet and spicy red and black fruits to please purists. Tannins are sophisticated, not soupy with a gentle but firm grip like being led through the flamenco by a confident but not aggressive partner.

The Lindes de Remelluri wines are an homage to the growers that have long worked for the estate and brought their grapes into Remelluri. Lindes means borders and they are made from vineyards in the surrounding villages of San Vicente de la Sonsierra and Labastida. These grapes, which used to be blended into Remelluri’s main wine, are now allowed to shine in site-specific bottlings. Founded by monks in the 14th Century, the vineyard has a long rich heritage and has been fully organic certified since 2010.
