Mas de Daumas Gassac Rosé Frizant
Famous for its Grands Vins, the Mas de Daumas Gassac has been a family owned vineyard for more than 40 years and belongs to the Guibert family. It is set in a wild and enchanting valley, close the magnificent romanesque abbey of Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert. 50 hectares of a deep, well drained soil, free from any chemical fertilisers.
It is this fabulous terroir, similar to the best parts of Burgundy, that Henri Enjalbert, the great Professor of Geology at Bordeaux university, rediscovered in the 1970’s.A genuine rosé sparkling wine – it could almost be a fruit juice – delights the palate with lively fine bubbles, smooth fruity aromas, freshness thanks to its low alcohol content!
"90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Manseng. Pale pink but more red than most. Gleaming. Delicate but pronounced fruit but not at all false or confected. Fruity and still elegant. It's fizzy but seems more wine-like and has a slight and attractive grip. (JH)" 16 pts, Jancis Robinson
"The 2020 Mas de Daumas Gassac Rosé Frizant is a ridiculous – and ridiculously tasty – blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Mourvèdre, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Petit Manseng and Muscat produced by the Charmat Method (as used to make prosecco). Wickedly seductive with its joyful pink hue, enticing effervescence, fresh wild strawberry fruit and long dry finish, I could barely keep my hands off it." Jonathan Ray, The Spectator
