Querciabella is one of the producers we really champion here at Honest Grapes. Giuseppe Castiglioni, an industrial entrepreneur and lifelong wine lover purchased a single hectare of vineyard on a Tuscan hillside and set about creating an estate soon spanning the breadth of the region. Querciabella's philosophy is to create extraordinary wines, without causing harm or disrupting the delicate balance of nature. With 69 hectares of vineyard in the prime Chianti Classico region, located in the communes of Greve, Radda and Gaiole their vineyards represent the largest extension of Biodynamically farmed vineyards in Italy. Querciabella lay claim to the rich Biodynamic soil and say it has become the single most important ingredient in their award-winning recipe.
Organic & Biodynamic Wines
With minimal intervention and low sulphur – the cornerstones of any good organic winemaker – critics argue you can actually taste this living environment, the wine’s ‘terroir’. Biodynamic winemaking goes beyond organics, it's a holistic approach to farming. Following the biodynamic calendar vineyard tasks will only occur on stated days and only natural products will be used.
