Peter Michael "Les Pavots"
- Sonoma County, United States
"Superb nose of sweet tobacco, dark fruits, iron, rust, strawberry and chocolate. Fresh mint. Pine nuts. Full body with incredible structure. It is tightly knit with dense ball of fruit and ripe tannins. Goes on for minutes. This needs time to come together in bottle but fascinating. Chanel No 5 in a bottle. Better in 2018. 67% cabernet sauvignon, 17% cabernet franc, 14% merlot and 2% petite verdot." 98 pts, James Suckling
"The 2010 Les Pavots (3,000 cases produced) is composed of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Cabernet Franc, 14% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot. More backward and firmer than the 2009, it exhibits copious notes of chocolate fudge, creme de cassis, blackberry liqueur, graphite and licorice as well as stunning concentration, full body, perfect balance and a massive personality. Still unevolved, it will benefit from several more years of bottle age, and should keep for three decades." 95+ pts, Robert M. Parker, Jr., WA
"The 2010 Les Pavots has come together nicely since last year. Black fruit, smoke, tobacco, licorice, grilled herbs and new leather burst from the glass. The 2010 is intense and explosive to the core, with terrific richness, volume and breadth. A huge, resonant finish rounds things out nicely. The 2010 Pavots is a classic Peter Michael red built on power and layers of flavor. The blend is 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Cabernet Franc, 14% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot." 93 pts, Antonio Galloni, Vinous
