Torbreck The Factor
It should prove to be one of the longest-lived wines from this lineup.
- Barossa Valley, Australia
The Factor pays homage to the Barossa's unique point of difference - great old Shiraz vineyards and the growers who painstakingly tend and nurture them each year.
"Aged in 50% new oak, Tobreck’s 2017 The Factor boasts hickory-like smoky aromas, plus plum and blackberry fruit. It’s full-bodied and firmly built, finishing with hints of chocolate, licorice and dusty tannins. Give it another 2-3 years in the cellar, then drink it over the next decade and a half." 95 pts, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate
"Deep, dark red/purple colour and a bouquet of black fruits and graphite, dark chocolate and hints of creosote. It’s a big, bold, ballsy wine with guts and grip, and not as elegantly-struc- tured as RunRig, the finish slightly chewy and warm from the alcohol. This is a big mother! It will be long lived." 94 pts, Huon Hooke, The Real Review
"The big factor here is the vintage. The 2017s from the top wines are from a slightly cooler, damper year - but remember this is Australia. The wines are graceful and charming, with lovely perfumes and earlier maturity.Four blocks from around Barossa. Big perfume and fleshy fruit and tannins - no fine bones here. More muscular, tannic expression with big black fruit." Nathan Hill
