Villa Sparina Gavi di Gavi DOCG
Full and rich flavour with a delicate bouquet of flowers and fruit with a scent of peach.
- Gavi, Piedmont, Italy
Founded by the Moccagatta family in the 1970's in the hamlet of Monteroondo. Villa Sparina comprises 100 hectares of land, 70 of which are cultivated with local grapes for the production of Gavi and Barbera wine. The unique and eye-catching bottle shape corresponds to the Roman amphorae found in the truffle-rich grounds. Among their 8 wines, the Gavi DOCG is the wine that has always coincided with the historic identity of Villa Sparina. From the Cortese grape this has great purity and focus and whilst redolent of honeysuckle and yellow pears on the nose, the palate has a steely backbone of minerally acidity that make me think of a Chablis on a vespa.
Bright yellow color, delicate bouquet of flowers and fruit with a scent of peach. Full and rich flavour, the complete grape-ripening gives a wine which is soft on the palate with a fine aromatic flavor at the end.
