Sommelier Selection Christmas Case
Château Trébiac Rouge, 2017: "Dry but also fruity, this wine that will soon be delicious comes from vineyards once owned by Franciscan nuns and maintained by the de Butler family. When the balance kicks in, the acidity and the bright spicy character will go well with the black-currant fruits." 90 points, Wine Enthusiast.
Domaine de l'Ostal Viognier, 2019: It has a beautiful pale-yellow robe revealing subtle hues of green. The nose is expressive, unveiling notes of apricots and candied orange, mixed with floral touches of honeysuckle and almond. On the palate, it is wonderfully fragrant and marked by a great finesse. It offers an intense, fresh and well-balanced finish, both smooth and slightly acidulous.
Vette di San Leonardo Sauvignon Blanc, 2018: "Lots of sliced green apples and mouthwatering gooseberries on this one, and not, thankfully, much in the way of pyrazine character. Good body and oiliness on the palate, but it’s also taut and quite vivacious. Drink now." 92 pts, James Suckling
La Giaretta Valpolicella Volpare, 2018: Look no further than this for the ultimate in crunchy red fruits and supple Summer berries.
Prats and Symington Post Scriptum, 2018: Deep dark ruby colour. Attractive aromas of ripe prune and black cherry. Very full on the palate denoting great structure. Elegant tannins leaving a fresh and long tasting finish.
Niepoort Late Bottled Vintage Port, 2015: This port ages 4-6 years in large old oak vats (opposed to Vintage, that ages 2-3 years). LBV fills the gap between the rubies and the vintage ports since a Ruby Port should be drunk quite young and a great Vintage Port may need 15 to 20 years to really open up and show its splendour.
