As big supporters of English Wine (and English Wine Week) we are thrilled to announce a very special Honest Grapes wine experience in June that we have personally curated with our good friends at the illustrious Wiston Estate. The Wiston winery and Dermot Sugrue (lead winemaker) have won more medals and acclaim than any other winery in England and we feel there is no better way to celebrate the thriving English wine industry then by spending the day at this historical establishment that dates back to the 1700’s.

Owner Pip is originally from South Africa, where she grew up dreaming of one day owning and managing a vineyard. Her youth was spent drinking wines whilst overlooking the vines they were grown on and wanted this for her future family. When some French men arrived in 2005 enquiring about the chalklands below the Goring farm – she knew the time had come to pursue her life-long passion. Thus, since 2006, husband and wife team Pip & Harry Goring have led their vineyard in the South Downs from strength to strength. After hundreds of years and generations of traditional farming on this ancient landscape, the vines now grow in the heart of the estate where the legendary chalky soil gifts their sparkling wines with Champagne worthy quality.

We’ve dedicated our day at Wiston estate to enjoying the two things the Goring family loves most – food and wine. Kirsty Goring has very kindly offered to personally give us a tour of the vineyards before guiding us through an extensive tasting of the Wiston range. As the afternoon arrives, we will sit down in the Barn for a delicious wine paired lunch from the newly opened CHALK restaurant, whose menu highlights fresh local produce including ingredients from the estate itself.

What a better way to spend a Saturday morning than in the West Sussex countryside sipping some of the UK’s finest sparkling wines, taking in the stunning views of the South Downs and indulging in delectable Sussex-grown fare. This will certainly be an Honest Grapes experience to remember!

We only have 20 spaces available, so book now to avoid disappointment. Please also note that we will not be proving transport to Wiston Estate, but can happily provide suggestions on how to make your way there.
