Following a wonderful tasting with Simone Furlong in our office last week, we are thrilled to offer the latest releases from Leeuwin Estate’s Art Series, a true icon of Margaret River and one of the undisputed “First Growths” of Australian wine. The team love these wines, as do the critics, and with releases from the last few years selling out quickly, Club Members seem to as well!

Our offer includes

2022 Chardonnay
97 points from Erin Larkin (WA), and up there with the world’s greatest white wines. Textural, layered, and structured, this has the finesse of Grand Cru white Burgundy, with the personality and power that only Margaret River can deliver.

2021 Cabernet Sauvignon
96 points and simply stunning. Elegant, detailed and precise, with cassis, graphite, eucalyptus and that telltale Margaret River freshness.

2022 Shiraz
94 points and amazing value. Perfumed and expressive, with a savoury, peppery lift. Simone mentioned that a sommelier in Japan recently paired this with tuna, and somehow, it worked!

Leeuwin’s story is now legend. The Horgan family purchased the land for cattle farming in 1969, only for Robert Mondavi to spot its potential and come on board as a consultant. The first vines were planted in 1976 - the first Chardonnay in Margaret River - and the estate has been family-run and world-renowned ever since.

Margaret River’s soils, climate, and coastal influences lend a European sensibility to the wines, very similar to Bordeaux and Burgundy, but with an unmistakable Australian identity. These are wines with depth, complexity, and serious aging potential, and with such strong scores and modest production, they continue to offer exceptional value on the world stage.

If you’ve been a fan in previous years, now is the moment to stock up. If you haven’t tried these yet, there’s no better vintage to start with.
