Within the house of Albert Bichot, Domaine Long-Depaquit is well known for its careful selection of Chablis styles and we have chosen our favourites of the vintage. Chateau Long-Depaquit sits at the centre of the village of Chablis, surrounded by a rose garden. The approach is to limit grape yields in the vineyard, intervention and oak in the winery to develop wines with purity and focus on expression of the individual plots. The winery was modernised in 2014, leading to reduced environmental impact and a step up in quality.
What the critics say:
"(from a holding of 2.6 ha; ~25% new wood) Noticeable but not really intrusive wood sets off mildly exotic white and yellow peach, sea breeze and iodine whiffs. There is both fine volume and mid-palate density to the intensely mineral-driven flavors that flash a touch of youthful austerity on the sappy and lingering finish. 2026+"
"Much fuller yellow, while the bouquet has started to take on the spiciness of full ripeness, with maybe a hint of honeysuckle. This is a powerful beast, if you are a power-hound add a point or two my score. What keeps the balance is the finely judged acidity. Tasted: October 2020"
"Pale primrose colour, a little more fruit showing, then greater generosity on the palate, and a well balanced mouthfeel ending in some saline notes at the back. There is adequate tension to support the fairly generous white fruit. Drink from 2026-2030. Tasted: October 2022"
