Resurrected by life-long Burgundy lover Mark O’Connell in 2011 and our dear friend Pierre Meurgey, Domaine Clos de la Chapelle is headquartered at the Chateau de Bligny, owned by Pierre and no less than Dominique Lafon. The talent behind the new Domaine is considerable, and the wines are already getting rave reviews from the likes of Allen Meadows (Burghound), Neal Martin & Jasper Morris.
We were so impressed by the wines after tasting the 2022s and were surprised to hear that they had little presence in the UK, so it is a real pleasure to offer these wines.
"An interesting balance of rich baked apple and freshly baked baguette, jostling with cleaner citric, medicinal notes of lime, agave, coriander and tarragon. Tangy, grapefruit attack, broadens out on a mid-palate succulent with lime and papaya, and refreshingly brisk, smoky acidity to ensure proper line and length. Plenty here and some good ageing potential."

What the critics say:
"Sixty-year-old vines. Straight, pure, and mineral. Vibrant and intense, with a firm sense of freshness. Salty and vibrant to finish. 2026–35."
"New in 2022. 65 year old vines, enough to make three barrels of which one is new. Fairly oaky but also with a dense concentrated fruit. A lime intensity, with considerable weight, does not yet quite flow through, but this is the style of the Domaine, wanting to make tightly wound wines. Drink from 2028-2034. Tasted: October 2023."
