Tenuta Sette Ponti, Oreno Toscana, 2019
- Red Still
- Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot
With the 2019 vintage we celebrate 20 years of Oreno production. In fact, this label was released in 1999, thanks to the wish of Dr. Antonio Moretti Cuseri, a great wine lover, who, during his frequent travels, was struck by the elegance and finesse of Bordeaux grape varieties, so much to decide to plant these varieties not present in the estate. Relying on the renowned nurseryman Gilbert Bouvet, he decided to graft adult vineyards with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, which are well adaptable to the Tuscan territory.
The name, in fact, comes from a stream which crosses the estate, just in the area rich of clay where our Merlot vines grow. While in the soils with a greater presence of pebbles, which ensure a perfect drainage and perform a self-regulating function of temperature and humidity, Cabernet Sauvignon finds its natural collocation. The perfect complement to the blend is Petit Verdot, traditionally used as a carrier of spicy notes and intensity of flavor.
The creation of a wine inspired by the Bordeaux style but with a strong Tuscan imprint is thus completed.
What the critics say:
"The Tenuta Sette Ponti 2019 Oreno celebrates the wine's 20th anniversary (1999-2019) with a special label and a heavy glass bottle. This blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot is beautifully ripe and generous with impeccable fruit throughout. Its primary intensity is delivered with energy and character, showcasing broad brush aromas of black fruit, exotic spice, cured tobacco and new leather. The tannins are quite strong in this edition and do make for a brief moment of astringency on the close. This is a thickly extracted blended Tuscan red, and it makes sense that its fiber and structure is also more compact and concentrated in 2019."
