Collection: Domaine Christian Clerget

An exciting domaine we are thrilled to have brought on board is Christian Clerget. This estate one has seen four generations of winegrowers in their vineyards of Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-St-Denis, Vougeot and Vosne-Romanée. Reviews of previous vintages from this 6ha fully organic domaine are sparse, though that all changed 2019 with some incredible scores. From there, it’s clear that Christian Clerget is now batting in the big leagues of Burgundy.

Though this 6ha domaine produces incredible wines in minimal quantities, the few times we’ve been able to taste the portfolio have lived long in the memory. Such is the size of the production that the domaine carried an air of mystery, with limited reviews and profiles available for Christian and his wife Isabelle, the driving forces behind the estate. Now, a new chapter unfolds as daughter Justine joins the ranks, infusing the domaine with fresh energy and a new perspective. The results already speak for themselves.

The Wine

Through a terroir-driven approach and traditional winemaking techniques, their wines exhibit grace, balance, and the true flavours of the grapes. Their wines echo the unique characteristics of the soil and microclimate that define the Savigny-lès-Beaune appellation. Christian Clerget's wines mirror Burgundian elegance.

The wines invariably combine succulence with steel at their core, brilliantly delineated fruit and a level of freshness (due to 15-30% use of whole bunches) that characterises the very best reds in Burgundy. We love these wines and are delighted to see them regularly receive top scores from both Jasper Morris and Allen Meadows (including the latter’s rare "Outstanding" award)!
