One of Puligny-Montrachet’s established estates, Domaine Bzikot is in the capable hands of Sylvain who has pushed quality here further and further forward. We’ve been huge fans ever since first tasting this fabulous range of Pulignys, which are easily some of the best value in Burgundy.

When Sylvain’s grandfather came to Burgundy from Poland just before the Second World War, he assembled an estate one parcel at a time, initially in Meursault and then around Puligny-Montrachet. When Sylvain took over in the 1990s he moved away from selling the grapes to negociants to bottling under his own label. From 4-hectares the domaine has grown to 15, with the top sites around Puligny, and Sylvain and his son Quentin make some beautifully elegant, terroir-focused wines.

The Wines

Sylvain uses barrel fermentation to bring out extra depth of fruit and terroir expression. The results are stunning, and this is an exemplary range with consistency of cru from village to the 1er Cru Pulignys, including the knock-out Folatieres.

Bzikot also makes a fabulous Meursault and St Aubin which should’t be overlooked.
