Taittinger Comtes de Champagne 2015 is out this morning, and we're marking it with an offer: £595 a case in bond when you buy two or more, which works out at under £100 a bottle for one of Champagne's great Blanc de Blancs. A single case is £640. It's also available in magnum, jeroboam and even methuselah, which, as any host will tell you, is where Champagne really comes into its own.

Taittinger dates back to 1734 and, unusually for a big name, is still family-run, by Pierre Taittinger's great-grandchildren Vitalie and Clovis. Its cellars in Reims sit in 4th-century chalk caves that once belonged to Benedictine monks, with cool, deep conditions that suit ageing Champagne slowly.

Antonio Galloni awards 97 points, up there with the finest Comtes in history, calling it "delicate, airy and wonderfully expressive" and "a real success in a year that was quite challenging". Made entirely from Grand Cru Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs (Avize, Cramant, Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger) and aged for at least five years on its lees, it is, frankly, one of the great arguments for why Chardonnay rules Champagne.

With a drinking window from 2026 to 2045, this is one for the cellar as much as the table. Est. delivery in winter 2026/2027.
