Beaune Premier Cru 'Les Aigrots', Domaine de Montille, 2022

Domaine de Montille needs little introduction in Burgundy circles — this is a family who have spent decades farming their vines with forensic care and making wines of real precision. Les Aigrots sits on the southern flank of Beaune's premier cru belt, a little lower in elevation than some of the more celebrated names, which gives it a generous, fruit-forward character without sacrificing the stony, iron-laced energy that defines good Beaune rouge.

The 2022 vintage was warm and abundant, and in the wrong hands that can tip into something soft and overworked — not here. De Montille's instinct for restraint keeps it honest.
