Château Beaumont, 2021

Chateau Beaumont commands a fiercely loyal following and even Neal Martin has described previous vintages like 2015 as the "kind of bottle you happily find on your dinner table and is finished down to the last drop". The team were all thrilled with Beaumont whilst out in Bordeaux, noting extra finesse and lift in the 2021 to go with the traditionally muscular character of this superb Haut Medoc. Few Left Bank estates in this price range can be relied upon to deliver quite like Beaumont, and it's always sensible to have a few cases of this stalwart in hand for big dinner parties, festive feasts, Tuesday night kitchen suppers.

The 2021 Beaumont was a real surprise, with a wonderfully expressive nose of blackberries, plums, woody spices & cedar. The palate is more succulent and linear, with ripe, juicy fruit supported by impressively delineated tannins and a long, spicy finish. This punches well above its weight and should drink very well shortly from release, and for considerable time thereafter. Chapeau!
