Clemens Busch farms some of the steepest, oldest vines in the Mosel, and this GG from the Fahrlay-Terrassen parcel of the legendary Marienburg vineyard is as serious as German Riesling gets. Fahrlay means 'red slate', and that's exactly what you taste: a dry, dense, mineral-driven wine that trades Mosel's usual prettiness for something altogether more brooding.

2018 was a warm, generous vintage, which gives this wine a little more flesh than usual, but the slate still wins the argument.
