Unlike other estates of similar stature, it is not based in Bordeaux, Burgundy, or Champagne, but in the Loire Valley, with vineyards covering 10 hectares within the appellations of Saumur and Saumur Champigny.

The 'Le Bourg' is a dense wine which undergoes 18-24 months' élevage in new oak barrels (just 3,000 bottles of each cuvée are produced per year on average).

Drinking window: 2023 - 2035

What the critics say:

97/100Yohan Castaing, Decanter

"This wine is barrel-aged for a rather long time in 75% new oak. Although going through a reductive stage now, it expresses smoky blackcurrant fruit with a touch of vanilla. It's a dense, seamless wine that has more depth than Les Poyeux but also more austerity, with a liquorice-infused finish. Should be magnificent in 15 to 20 years."
