The Argiano estate develops around the nucleus of buildings, extending across an area of about 125 hectares, occupied by vineyards, olive groves and woods.

At Argiano there is a word that we use more than every other to describe the philosophy that unites us respect: Respect for nature, which has given us a treasure of inestimable value, to which we dedicate every care and attention: this is why we apply the most effective and modern working methods, while remembering that every technique has to have the least possible impact on health and on the surrounding environment. Respect for tradition, five centuries of history which have made Argiano great, a wealth of wisdom and experience that we proudly boast today and which we want to protect and hand down to those who succeed us. It is only by respecting nature and tradition in our everyday work that our wine can fully interpret this wonderful land. Dried cherries, oyster mushrooms, black olives and citrus oil. It’s full-bodied with sleek, ultra fine tannins and a lifted finish. Layers of sour-cherry, bark and umami notes. Burgundian sensibility with purity and intensity. Wait a few years for this to open up. Drink after 2023.

What the critics say:

96/100James Suckling

"A very fine and polished Brunello with fine, creamy tannins that are polished and very curated. Cherry and bark character. Medium to full body with ripe tannins. Juicy. Orange peel. Try this after 2025, but already delicious."

17.5/20Walter Speller,

"Maturing ruby with bricky rim. A little reductive and embryonic on the nose with only a hint of oatmeal suggesting some new oak came into play. Fragrant cherry fruit on the palate and with long, sandpapery tannins. Great balance and length. Seduces you to think this is ready now, and certainly can be approached, but it will pay off to wait for another year. "

Tenuta di Argiano

Argiano is one of the oldest and most beautiful estates in Montalcino (and was one of the members of the original Brunello Consorzio).

Although the estate is situated in the south of the region which tends to be several degrees warmer than vineyards to the north, the vineyards achieve good elevation and comprise a high percentage of the mineral-rich marl in their clay limestone soil, also found in the hill of Montosoli – Montalcino’s widely accepted “Grand Cru” site.
