Torbreck is best known for thunderous Barossa Shiraz, so the Woodcutter's Semillon is something of a curveball - and a very welcome one. Made from Semillon grown in the Barossa Valley, this is a dry, unoaked white built for early drinking: bright lemon, fresh herbs, a touch of lanolin, and a clean, snappy finish that makes it dangerously easy to pour another glass.
At modest alcohol, this is the kind of wine you reach for on a warm afternoon without a second thought. The Barossa is not the obvious home for great Semillon (that honour belongs to the Hunter Valley) but Torbreck handles the variety with a light touch, keeping it fresh, food-friendly, and honest. Drink it young, keep it cold, and enjoy it for what it is: straightforward, well-made, and entirely satisfying.
