Luke Lambert, a family-run winery nestled in the heart of Victoria's Yarra Valley, represents a vibrant expression of Australian winemaking. Here, the Lambert family's dedication to sustainable practices and an unwavering respect for the land harmoniously merge with a deep-rooted passion for terroir-driven wines.
Luke Lambert Wines is a true family endeavour, drawing inspiration from the rich cultural heritage of the Yarra Valley. The Lambert family, with its long-standing connection to this land, upholds the region's traditions while embracing a modern approach to winemaking. The Lambert family acknowledges and pays respect to the traditional owners of the land, the Wurundjeri and Taungurung people of the Kulin nation. They recognize the enduring farming and sustainable land management practices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, which span over 60,000 years.
In 2017, Luke Lambert Wines expanded its footprint by acquiring a block in Glenburn, just north of the Yarra Valley. In 2019/20, they embarked on an exciting endeavour, planting a 5-acre Nebbiolo vineyard named Sparkletown. This new venture promises to be an exciting addition to their portfolio.
The Wine
All of Luke Lambert's wines originate from the Denton View Hill vineyard, a site located near Yarra Glen in the northern part of the Yarra Valley. This vineyard, carefully tended and nurtured, serves as the exclusive source of their exceptional fruit. Each grape variety reflects the unique characteristics of the soil, climate, and microclimates found in Yarra Valley, giving rise to wines of exceptional purity, vibrancy, and balance.
Sustainability is at the core of Luke Lambert's winemaking practices. With a commitment to the health of their vineyards and the surrounding environment, they employ organic methods and minimal intervention, ensuring that the grapes express their true character.
Handpicked grapes, wild yeast fermentation, and minimal intervention are the cornerstones of Luke Lambert's winemaking process. Their wines are bottled without fining or filtration, allowing the essence of the fruit and terroir to shine. Maturation takes place in large French and Slavonian oak foudre, adding depth and complexity to each bottle.
