Dom Pérignon 2015's 96 points from Vinous' Antonio Galloni places Dom Pérignon comfortably among Galloni's top 10 wines of the vintage in Champagne and only two score higher. No surprises there, this is Dom Pérignon after all!
2015 was a warm vintage, at times challenging, though the winemaking team were delighted with the quality of the harvested Pinot Noir, which was "fruity and powerful, ample and structured, altogether full and delicate". The Chardonnay on the other hand was less even, requiring significant sorting, though the resultant wine remains true to the house style with an almost 50/50 blend between the two grapes. For Galloni the result is "terrific", with "gorgeous tension and backbone" and "a fine showing in a vintage that has proven to be tricky".
The Wine Advocate's Yohan Castaing is also a huge fan, awarding 95 points and remarking on the combination of "customary charm and vinous generosity" with "a remarkably linear and well-defined style that diverges markedly from the more familiar expressions of Dom Pérignon". This should be especially interesting for collectors as the 2015 is quite unique in the pantheon of great vintages of Dom Pérignon. This is yet another sublime addition to the DP portfolio.
