Jane Eyre Wines
I met Jane Eyre out in Burgundy last summer when she brought a bottle of her 2013 Grand Cru Corton-Renardes to dinner which absolutely bowled me over. I was amazed to learn that she was at the time unrepresented in the UK but as she observed wryly "if I can't appeal to the British market with my name then I'm in trouble". Jane first worked the vintage in Burgundy in 1998 and subsequently gained experience with some of the world's top winemakers, including Ernst Loosen in the Mosel and Freddie Mugnier in Chambolle Musigny. She now makes wines under her own micro-negociant label in a winery shared with no less than Dominique Lafon. My enthusiasm aside, I was pleased to learn the 2013 Corton-Renardes received 95 points from Jamie Goode and was featured last month in the Revue de Vins de France as one of their wines of the year.
