Château Lafite Rothschild needs little introduction; it is arguably the most famous name in Bordeaux, and in certain quarters, the most famous wine in the world.

The 2006 vintage rewards those who know to look past the headline years: cooler than 2005, more structured than many gave it credit for at release, and now, twenty years on, beginning to hit its stride. The blend leans heavily on Cabernet Sauvignon from the estate's gravelly Pauillac soils, with the characteristic Lafite signature of precision and perfume over sheer power.
