Optimal drinking window: 2032 - 2055

Domaine de Chevalier is one of Pessac-Léognan's most quietly compelling estates — a Cru Classé de Graves that has never needed to shout. The rouge is a Cabernet-led blend with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and a touch of Petit Verdot, and in warm, generous vintages like 2025 it achieves something rare: genuine density without losing the estate's signature mineral restraint. Expect dark fruit, cedar, and that cool, iron-tinged quality that sets Pessac-Léognan apart from the riper communes to the north.

This is a wine that rewards patience. Give it until 2032 at the earliest — right now it is still assembling itself — and it should repay the wait handsomely until 2055. If you are used to the more obvious charms of Pauillac or Saint-Julien, Chevalier's precision and gravelly backbone might take a moment to win you over. It will.
