Les Corbeaux is one of Gevrey-Chambertin's lesser-sung premier crus, tucked in the northern reaches of the appellation close to Marsannay. It tends to produce wines of real finesse rather than sheer muscle — more tension than opulence, more Chambolle than Pommard in character — and in the hands of Jane Eyre, that translates into a Pinot of genuine precision and personality.
The 2025 vintage brought warm, dry conditions across Burgundy, lending the wine a generous mid-palate without sacrificing the site's characteristic freshness.
Les Corbeaux sits in the northern sector of Gevrey-Chambertin, bordering Brochon, on soils that tend toward lighter, stonier Bathonian limestone with less clay than the grand cru belt further south. This leaner soil profile encourages wines of more delicate structure and aromatic lift rather than weight and density. The slightly higher elevation and northerly exposure moderate ripening, lending the wines their characteristic freshness and minerality. In warmer years like 2025, this translates into a happy balance of ripe fruit and structural tension.
Gevrey-Chambertin is arguably Burgundy's most famous red wine commune, home to nine grand crus including Chambertin and Chambertin-Clos de Bèze. Its premier crus, of which Les Corbeaux is one, sit on the mid-slope and surrounding areas, and range considerably in character depending on their position relative to the grand cru belt. Les Corbeaux, in the far north, produces wines noticeably different in style to premier crus like Clos St-Jacques or Lavaux St-Jacques, with more elegance and less sheer power. The AOC demands 100% Pinot Noir for all red wines.
