Kayra, Beyaz Kalecik Karası Rosé, 2021
Kayra, Beyaz Kalecik Karası Rosé, 2021
- Rosé Still
- Kalecik Karasi
A really characterful but delicate rosé from dry-farmed vines planted at 850m altitude in Denizli Anatolia, made from the free run juice of the dark-skinned local Kalecik Karası grape, considered to be Turkey’s answer to Pinot Noir for its elegance and complexity.
Consultant winemaker Daniel O’ Donnell has projects in Italy and back home in Napa but is a huge fan of the wines he oversees in Turkey.
Pale salmon colour, with lifted aromas of pink grapefruit, orange bitters, red berries and redcurrants, and fennel tops which follow on to a juicy palate bright with red citrus and berries, and a twist of tarragon.
Introduce this as the Sancerre rosé of Anatolia and your guests won’t be disappointed!
