First produced in 2000, Tenuta San Guido has been turning their focus ever more to Guidalberto, with a specific winery being built at the moment solely dedicated to it. Tenuta San Guido has this year decided to release the wine a week earlier than its peers to give it its own moment in the spotlight.
The blend for the 2021 is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. Guidalberto, a wine that can be enjoyed at a younger age and named after the family member who planted the iconic cypress tree avenue which marks the entrance to the Bolgheri estate. In his note, Galloni talks highly of it and has emphasises the wines ability to be drunk immediately.
What the critics say:
"The 2021 Guidalberto, San Guido's blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, is soft, succulent and alluring right out of the gate. The supple contours of Merlot lend fleshiness to this mid-weight, racy Maremma blend. Ripe red cherry fruit, spice, leather and tobacco are nicely pushed forward. Best of all, the 2021 will drink well right out of the gate."
