Vourvoukelis Assyrtiko 2023 is a bright and refreshing expression of Greece’s iconic white grape, grown in the cooler climate of Thrace in northern Greece. While Assyrtiko is best known for its roots in Santorini, this version brings a slightly different perspective—crisp, mineral-driven, but with a rounder, fruit-forward edge thanks to its mainland terroir.

The palate is clean and zippy, with vibrant acidity and a chalky minerality that gives it structure and lift. There's a nice balance between citrusy brightness and a touch of stone fruit richness, making it both refreshing and food-friendly.

This 2023 vintage is a great example of how Assyrtiko thrives beyond the Aegean islands, delivering clarity, energy, and a modern take on a classic Greek varietal. Perfect for seafood, salads, or just a sunny afternoon.

OUR GROWERS

Vourvoukelis

Vourvoukeli Estate is a family-owned winery based in Avdira, Thrace, in northern Greece. It was founded in 1999 by Nikos and Flora Vourvoukeli, who set out to revive the area’s long-lost winemaking traditions—Avdira was once a historic wine hub, but phylloxera and economic shifts had sidelined viticulture for decades.

What began as a small project with just 2 hectares of vines has grown into a 12-hectare estate, now run by the founders' sons, Georgios and Odysseas, both trained in viticulture and oenology. The focus is on quality and authenticity, with a mix of native and international grape varieties.
