The 2018 Château Petit-Village is crafted from Merlot with small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. It's plush yet structured, with silky tannins, vibrant freshness, and a long, polished finish. A natural match for classic French fare such as roast lamb or duck breast.

With a history dating back to 1785, the estate gained prominence in 1831 under the ownership of the Dufresne family. The estate spans 10.5 hectares, predominantly planted with Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard's terroir, characterised by deep gravel and clay soils, contributes to the production of wines with remarkable intensity and finesse.

Under the guidance of winemaker Guillaume Frédoux and consultants Stéphane Derenoncourt and Marielle Cazeaux, Château Petit-Village continues to produce wines that reflect the exceptional quality of Pomerol.

What the critics say:

96/100James Suckling

"Black cherry, clove, cedar and dried earth on the nose. Some vanilla and licorice. It’s medium-bodied with firm, chewy tannins. Some wet earth. Polished and layered, with wonderful freshness, too. Very tight now. Better from 2025."

93/100Jane Anson, Decanter

"This is a bigger vintage than some years at Petit-Village, with an excellent balance and an impressive swagger, giving notes of pencil lead and liquorice through the mid palate that give it a fairly Left Bank feel. There is clear concentration here with raspberry fruits that have an attractive floral edge and an abundance of silky and plump tannins. They are HVE3 but not organic and had a yield still lower than usual at 23hl/ha due to mildew and difficult fruit set which meant extremely careful sorting was required. 40% new oak was used. Winemaker Dania Berrouet-Garcia."
