Following a strong showing at yesterday's Icons Tasting, we’re thrilled to announce our very first Spanish Syndicate Barrel, and what a debut: CVNE’s Real de Asúa 2022, a wine that has triumphed in a challenging vintage and may well be the flagship release of the estate this year.

With Georgina Hindle praising its “succulent and grippy” fruit, “finessed, elegant and totally delicious” profile (96 points, Decanter), and the Wine Advocate's Luis Gutiérrez hailing it as “serious, harmonious, and nuanced” (96 points), this is a truly standout Rioja – at a price that makes it one of the best-value Icons of the campaign.

Each share comprises 30 bottles equivalent (£1,560) in your choice of formats (no premium on magnums, double-magnums, or imperials), along with personalised strip labels and an invitation to enjoy a tour, tasting, and Syndicate lunch with a guest (dates TBC in consultation with members).

Real de Asúa itself is the jewel in CVNE’s crown: made in honour of the Real de Asúa brothers who founded CVNE back in 1879, sourced from a single vineyard in Villalba, one of the cooler spots in Rioja Alta, this 100% Tempranillo is all about purity, precision, and poise.

In 2022, the estate faced drought and heat, yet delivered a wine of purity, freshness and lift, so much so that Imperial may not even be produced this vintage, leaving Real de Asúa to carry the torch for CVNE. With just 12,000 bottles made, it’s one of the most limited fine Riojas in existence.
