Château de Pommard is one of Burgundy's most storied addresses — a walled 20-hectare estate in the heart of the Côte de Beaune that has been making wine since the 18th century. The Clos Marey-Monge Nicholas-Joseph is named in honour of the estate's most celebrated former owner, and it draws on some of the oldest vines within the monopole clos. The 2021 vintage across Burgundy was a study in precision over power: a cooler growing season that rewarded careful viticulture and delivered wines of real finesse and clarity.
This is a Pommard that leans more towards elegance than the appellation's reputation for muscle might suggest. The tannins are present but refined, the fruit is dark and focused, and there is that characteristic earthy, iron-rich character running beneath it all.
