"Dark, ripe red fruits are immediately generous on the attack, then give way to a savoury, mineral-driven mid-palate. Tannins are firm yet polished, providing structure and tension, while the wine’s natural acidity keeps everything fresh and lifted. Powerful, layered, and long, Les Grandes Lolières is a Grand Cru that combines presence, poise, and absolute Corton character."
Stewart Pryce, Honest Grapes Wine Club Manager

Domaine Henri Magnien continues to prove why Charles Magnien is firmly established as one of Gevrey-Chambertin’s rising stars. The 2024 vintage is a clear success here, with exceptional definition between cuvées and a masterclass in terroir expression. This is Magnien firing on all cylinders, with wines that reward both immediate enjoyment and long-term patience.

Corton is Burgundy's only red Grand Cru outside the Côte de Nuits, and Les Lolières sits on the hill's eastern flank where the soils are deeper and the wines tend toward a more generous, fleshy expression than the steelier upper slopes.

What the critics say:

93/100Neal Martin, Vinous

"The 2024 Corton Les Grandes Lolières Grand Cru is one of Magnien's "secret weapons" and frequently punches above its weight. This is no exception with detailed, mineral-driven red berry fruit, beautifully focused and simmering with tension. The palate is medium-bodied with sculpted, edgy tannins, crisp acidity and satisfying backbone with more density on the finish than its peers. Superb for the vintage."

OUR GROWERS

Domaine Henri Magnien

Domaine Henri Magnien is a small family domaine in Gevrey-Chambertin, farming a modest but well-chosen range of plots across the Côte de Nuits and, with this wine, stretching south to the Corton hill. They farm with close attention to the vine and minimal intervention in the cellar, favouring gentle extraction and restrained new oak. Not a domaine with a global marketing operation, which is precisely why their wines tend to over-deliver.

Domaine Henri Magnien is understood to practise lutte raisonnée viticulture with movement toward organic methods in the vineyard, though no formal organic or biodynamic certification is publicly confirmed. Specific accreditations have not been verified at the time of writing.
