"A unique, one-off blend of 15 lieux-dits. Soft, supple, and immediately appealing, with juicy red fruit and an easy, flowing charm, with a lovely line of acidity. A rare chance to taste a broad snapshot of Gevrey through one lens."
Stewart Pryce, Honest Grapes Wine Club Manager

Domaine Henri Magnien continues to prove why Charles Magnien is firmly established as one of Gevrey-Chambertin’s rising stars. The 2024 vintage is a clear success here, with exceptional definition between cuvées and a masterclass in terroir expression.

The classics shine as ever: Cazetiers and Lavaux St-Jacques deliver depth, structure, and serious ageing potential, while Estournelles St-Jacques offers a more lifted, elegant expression. But the real curiosity is Gevrey-Chambertin XV – a one-off bottling born from reduced yields, blending fruit from 15 different lieux-dits into a remarkably coherent and charming whole. It’s not a style we’ll see again, and it comes highly recommended.

This is Magnien firing on all cylinders, with wines that reward both immediate enjoyment and long-term patience.

What the critics say:

92/100Neal Martin, Vinous

"The 2024 Gevrey-Chambertin XV is a blend of fruit from the regular Village plus the Vieilles Vignes and Champerrier, titled "XV" since it comes from 15 parcels. This is very perfumed on the nose: pure red cherries and crushed strawberry fruit, light briar and crushed stone scents. The palate is very well balanced with a sensual, silky texture, just the right amount of acidity and superb tension and delineation on the Vosne-like finish. Lovely."

OUR GROWERS

Domaine Henri Magnien

Domaine Henri Magnien is a small, family-run estate based in Gevrey-Chambertin, farming around five hectares across the village and its surrounding lieux-dits. The domaine has moved steadily towards more careful, low-intervention viticulture, with an emphasis on old vines and minimal cellar treatment. They are not famous in the way Rousseau or Dugat-Py are famous, which is precisely why their wines consistently punch above their price point.

Domaine Henri Magnien has been working with organic and low-intervention practices in the vineyard, though as of the time of writing no formal certification such as Ecocert or Demeter has been publicly confirmed. Buyers seeking certified organic or biodynamic status should verify directly with the domaine.
