A complimentary tour and tasting for two, worth €230.
And 20% off further experiences at Le Manoir: spa, the Table Experience, and more, with a full list provided.

We tasted the MV21 recently and it is a delicious wine. Not much has been written yet about the 2021 vintage in Champagne, though what has emerged suggests real potential — and having followed Giraud closely for years, our own view is that this improves on the excellent MV20.

Henri Giraud has long been one of Champagne's insider names, revered by sommeliers and collectors for doing things a little differently in a region that often leans heavily on convention. Jancis Robinson once compared a previous vintage to "a sort of Montrachet of Champagne," and Antonio Galloni calls them "some of the most unique, individualistic wines in Champagne... at their best, the Giraud Champagnes offer incredible intensity, class and balance." Robert Parker went further still: "This is the way I think Krug SHOULD taste."

As with all Giraud's MV releases, the blend is 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay, entirely from Grand Cru vineyards, fermented in oak from the nearby Argonne Forest — a signature of the house. The base wine from the 2021 harvest is blended with reserve wine from Giraud's réserve perpétuelle, a solera system that has been running continuously since 1990, giving the wine a layered complexity and continuity that few Champagnes can match.

What the critics say:

96/100James Suckling

"Floral aromas with hints of bread dough and yellow fruit come through on the nose. Medium- to full-bodied, showing creamy texture and tart acidity, plus a touch of biscuits and pie crust. Just a bit of caramel at the end. Dosage 4 g/L. Disgorged December 2025. Drink now."

OUR GROWERS

Champagne Henri Giraud

Henri Giraud is a family house in Aÿ that has championed oak-aged Champagne since the 1980s, using barrels made exclusively from Argonne forest oak. Claude Giraud pioneered this approach when others were moving to steel, believing oak adds texture and longevity to Champagne. The house owns twelve hectares of Grand Cru vineyards entirely within Aÿ.

The house uses Argonne oak from their own sustainably managed forests, sourced from trees that are at least 200 years old. They practice lutte raisonnée viticulture with minimal intervention in the vineyards.
