Valdicava is firmly in the top echelon of Montalcino growers with more 100-point (JS) scores than any other. The Abruzzese family were one of the twenty-five founder members of the Consorzio Brunello di Montalcino in 1967 and now third and fourth generations Vincenzo and his son Pierfilippo, are ensuring that the reputation of the estate remains second to none. Robert Parker said there is "... a strong argument can be made that Valdicava is among the top three or four Brunello di Montalcino producers" and there is no denying the cult status the winery enjoys today.

2006 is one of the best Brunello vintages between 2001 and 2010 and is really hitting all the right notes currently, really beginning to show secondary and tertiary characters. A magnum or better still double magnum will make a memorable dinner highlight… and these large formats are showing wisdom, not wrinkles!.

What the critics say:

100/100James Suckling

"I tasted this about a year ago at the winery and I was blown away. This time I tasted it in a blind tasting in Tuscany and it stood above the rest. Amazing aromas of blueberries and flowers, with black truffles and pie. Foie gras, mushrooms and white truffles too. Powerful, with great depth of gorgeous fruit and ultra-fine tannins. It fills your mouth with fruit and ripe tannins. Complex and long. A breathtaking wine. Truly glorious. Better in 2015."

OUR GROWERS

Valdicava

Robert Parker asserts, "a strong argument can be made that Valdicava is among the top three or four Brunello di Montalcino producers." Valdicava's Brunellos offer a rare opportunity for the fine wine collector. Valdicava retains two of Italy's best wine consultants, winemaker Attilio Pagli and agronomist Andrea Paoletti and even in a strong vintage produces only 5000 cases of wine
