Collection: 99-Point Gran Enemigo – South America’s Finest Cab Franc

Every so often a wine comes along that completely resets the benchmark. Gran Enemigo Gualtallary Cabernet Franc 2020 is one such bottle. From Argentina’s first recognised “Grand Cru” terroir at 1500m altitude, Alejandro Vigil and Adrianna Catena have produced a Cabernet Franc of staggering purity and finesse – a wine that Wine Advocate’s Luis Gutiérrez awarded a near-perfect 99 points, calling it “Nothing but phenomenal”.  This sits comfortably alongside the world’s greatest expressions of the grape and we are happy to stick our necks out and call this the Cheval Blanc/ Clos Rougeard of Mendoza.

Despite the warm vintage, the 2020 shows none of the excess you might expect – instead it’s ethereal, finely etched, and laced with freshness, with 70% whole bunch and ageing in large foudres bringing both aromatic lift and structural depth. It’s powerful yet weightless, exuberant yet subtle: a true paradox in the glass, and one that will age beautifully over the next two decades.

We’re thrilled to have secured a small parcel of both 6x75cl cases and single magnums, available at the lowest market price. This is a rare chance to add one of South America’s greatest wines to your cellar. Our advice? Do not hesitate – allocations are limited, and Gualtallary at this level does not linger.
