Château d’Yquem is the benchmark of Sauternes and the only estate classified as Premier Grand Cru Supérieur in the Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855.
The vineyard sits on the highest point of the Sauternes plateau, where gravel, clay and limestone soils and autumn morning mists encourage the development of noble rot (botrytis), essential for the estate’s sweet wines.
Production is famously meticulous. Grapes are picked by hand in multiple passes through the vineyard, selecting only berries fully affected by botrytis. Yields are extremely low, and not every vintage is bottled if the quality is not considered high enough.
With its 100 point scores across the board, the 2023 vintage joins the rank of the d'Yquem immortals.
