Exactly the sort of find we love sharing with Club Members: a place with a thousand-year backstory and a very modern pulse. Founded in 1132 as a monastic estate, it was quietly reborn in 2021 when Kwame, a Beaune-trained former San Francisco software engineer, took over one of the most remarkable vineyards in the Côte Chalonnaise. A single, sweeping clos of around 18 hectares folds Bourgogne, Rully and Mercurey Premier Cru into one extraordinary site, hidden away high above Rully and still flying well under the radar.

The Wine

Farming is fully organic, with livestock, grassed rows and high-trained vines all part of a self-sufficient ecosystem. In the cellar, the touch is confident but restrained: no heavy-handed extraction, gentle handling, and élevage split between foudre, amphora, concrete and barrique. The result is a set of wines with real snap, depth and personality, particularly the Mercureys, which live up to their reputation as the “Pommard of the Chalonnaise”. Discovering a domaine this early, before the wider market catches on, is a genuine thrill, and exactly why being part of the Club pays off.
