Domaine Etienne Sauzet, based in the heart of Puligny-Montrachet, is one of Burgundy’s benchmark producers of white wine. Founded in the early 20th century by Etienne Sauzet, the domaine helped define Puligny’s modern style, centred on purity, balance and mineral precision.
Today the estate farms around 15 hectares, with outstanding Premier and Grand Cru holdings including Les Perrières, Les Combettes, La Garenne and Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet. Sustainable vineyard work, low yields and meticulous attention to detail ensure each site’s character is clearly expressed.
In the cellar, a restrained approach — gentle pressing, long fermentations and judicious oak — allows tension and minerality to shine. The resulting wines are celebrated for their clarity, depth and exceptional ageing potential, standing among the finest expressions of Puligny-Montrachet.
What the critics say:
"The 2024 Bourgogne Blanc has an attractive nose that punches above its weight, quite minerally with the complexity associated with a Village Puligny. The palate is well balanced with fine weight, a pleasing waxy texture to this Bourgogne Blanc with a little pithiness surfacing towards the finish. Should be good value."
"Mid lemon in colour. Here the fruit comes across as ripe, with some yellow plums, a good backbone of acidity, middleweight, quite attractive. Benoît and team have worked well, given the challenges of the lower lying vineyards in 2024. *4/5*"
