Likened to Armand Rousseau by Neal Martin and one to watch, rising star Xavier Horiot's reclamation of Domaine Launay-Horiot must be one of the most remarkable stories in the Côte d’Or. These are absolutely up there with the best red Burgundies being produced in Pommard and Chambertin.

Les Perrières sits high on the slope above the village, just below the forest line, where shallow, stony soils rich in limestone and fractured rock dominate. The name Perrières reflects this rocky ground, which naturally limits vigour and yields smaller, concentrated berries. This elevated, well-drained site brings freshness, tension and clarity to the wine, producing a more precise, age-worthy style of Pommard

What the critics say:

90-92/100 ****Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy

"Mid purple. Plenty of fruit on the nose, largely red raspberry, something a little smoky alongside. Very charming pure fresh red fruit on the palate, impressive density, even some sun-dried cherry notes. Good tension born of acidity. Long reverberant finish. Drink from 2029-2035. Tasted Nov 2025. *4/5 stars*"

91/100 €Christy Canterbury MW, Tim Atkin

"€: Value wines that are especially worth seeking out"

OUR GROWERS

Domaine Launay-Horiot

Tasting the wines at Launay-Horiot always leaves you scratching your head. There is a sense of symmetry and majesty in the Pinot Noir here that implies the kind of wisdom passed down over many generations, yet the domaine's debut vintage was somehow only in 2014? Allen Meadows wondered in 2015 whether "beginner's luck" was at play for fighter pilot turned Burgundian Xavier Horiot, though with nine vintages under his belt and each arguably more impressive than the last, there is no question that domaine's success is the result of a rare and instinctive genius.
