Terra de Asorei is a relatively young family winery in the Salnés Valley, at the heart of Rías Baixas, but the winemaking roots behind it go back much further. Six local winegrowing families came together in 2008, with the winery established in 2015, bringing generations of knowledge together under one roof. Today they work around 60 hectares of Albariño, including some very old vines, all within about 15 minutes of the winery. The vineyards are farmed sustainably and harvested by hand, with the estate controlling everything from vineyard to bottle. Production is around 400,000 bottles a year, and the wines are now sold in more than 20 countries.

The focus is, unsurprisingly, Albariño from the Val do Salnés, with the Atlantic climate giving the wines their trademark combination of ripe fruit, bright acidity and mineral freshness. The main Terra de Asorei bottling is aged for six months on its lees, giving it a little more weight and texture than a straightforward young Albariño, while the range also includes the more traditional Pazo Torrado, Nai, a barrel-aged Albariño and limited-production wines from century-old vines. Their Cepas Centenarias comes from a tiny historic vineyard with more than 200 century-old vines, some of which were involved in research into authentic Albariño clones. So, while Terra de Asorei is a modern operation, there is plenty of old-school Salnés heritage behind the wines.
