Mina Rosé is a still rosé from Astoria, the Veneto producer best known for its Prosecco. Launched in 2023, it was developed as a more traditional, food-friendly wine alongside the estate’s sparkling range. It is made from red grapes vinified as a white, with a short period of skin contact to extract a delicate colour while retaining freshness.

The 2023 has a pale, slightly powdery pink colour, with aromas of fresh strawberry and floral notes, alongside a subtle spicy character. Dry, crisp and well balanced, it has bright acidity and a clean, lightly mineral finish. At 12% alcohol, it is an easy-going Veneto rosé designed for drinking young, particularly with seafood, salads, antipasti and other lighter dishes.

Tasting Notes

AppearancePale salmon pink with a lively, watery rim.

NoseFresh and immediately inviting, with ripe strawberry and a lift of white blossom. There is a subtle citrus edge that keeps things light and airy rather than jammy.

PalateCrisp and clean, with the strawberry following through from the nose alongside a faint watermelon note. The acidity is bright and mouthwatering, giving the wine its energy.

FinishShort but clean, with a faintly mineral lift at the end.

Overall impressionA no-fuss, genuinely refreshing rosé built for warm afternoons rather than contemplation.

Food Pairings

In northeast Italy, this style of wine is made for eating outdoors. Locals would reach for it alongside cicchetti — the Venetian answer to tapas — particularly creamy baccalà mantecato on toast or little plates of cured meats and pickled vegetables. It works well with light seafood, especially grilled gamberi or a simple plate of prawn and lemon. A Caprese salad with good mozzarella is another natural companion, the wine's acidity cutting through the fat of the cheese without overpowering the tomatoes.

FAQs

What does the Mina Rosé taste like?

Fresh strawberry and white blossom on the nose, with crisp acidity and a clean finish on the palate. It is light, bright, and built for refreshment rather than complexity.

When should I drink this wine?

Now, ideally. The 2023 is in its prime and will stay that way until around 2027, after which the freshness that makes it so appealing will begin to fade.

What food works well with the Mina Rosé?

Light summer food is the answer: grilled prawns, fresh salads, antipasti, soft cheeses, and anything with lemon. It is also good on its own in the garden on a warm afternoon.

How should I serve it?

Straight from the fridge at around 7-8°C. No decanting needed. A standard white wine or tulip glass keeps the aromas focused without any fuss.

Is this worth cellaring?

No. This wine is all about freshness and is not designed to age. Drink it over the next year or two while it is at its liveliest.

Who makes the Mina Rosé?

Astoria is a well-established family winery based in the Veneto and Friuli foothills of northeast Italy, known for producing approachable, food-friendly wines across a wide range of styles.
